More than 100 years ago the Belfour Declaration was penned by Arthur James Balfour, the British Foreign Secretary. Writing that document changed the face of the Middle East. Published on November 2nd, 1917, its contents led to the creation of the state of Israel and what some view as the re-establishment of the mighty nation.

The prophetic Arab and Jew struggle for control over the Holyland has caused untold suffering in the Middle East for generations. It is often claimed that the crisis originated with Jewish immigration to Palestine and the aforementioned foundation of the state of Israel. Yet the root of the conflict is to be found much earlier in history during the British double-dealing during the First World War (WWI).

Let’s take a look at the misguided strategies and the conflicting promises made to Arabs and Jews that created a legacy of bloodshed and which has determined the fate of the Middle East.
