Hezbollah, حزب الله meaning “Party of God” in Arabic, is a Shia Islamist political and militant organization based in Lebanon. Established in the early 1980s, Hezbollah has evolved into one of the most influential and powerful entities in the Middle East. Central to its identity are its leaders. Some were amongst the most powerful in the world. Known to dodge the most elite operatives within the Mossad, CIA, and former KGB.

Founding and Early Years

Hezbollah emerged in the early 1980s amidst the chaos of the Lebanese Civil War (1975–1990) and the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 1982. The organization originated from the Lebanese Shia community, which had long suffered marginalization and oppression under Lebanon’s sectarian political system. Inspired by the Iranian Revolution of 1979 and guided by the ideological scaffold of Wilayat al-Faqih (Guardianship of the Jurist) advocated by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, Hezbollah aimed to establish an Islamic state in Lebanon and resist Israeli occupation.
